De Smet South Dakota is home to the Ingalls Homestead (as in Laura Ingalls Wilder). Thanks to the wonders of Instagram my sister found this gem, which actually has been around for 20+ years. There’s something pretty magical about the prairie and I’d say if you have the chance and time to take a 5 hour trip out of Minneapolis you really should do so :).
